New thrust for more efficient training
Our new A320 training concept with Flat Panel Trainers
Our new, more efficiently structured training concept has allowed us to significantly improve the quality of training for future Captains and First Officers. The targeted use of Flat Panel Trainers, in particular, enables the intelligent and perfectly coordinated interplay of CBTs, FPTs and FFSs. This transfer of mainly technical content allows us to train procedures, interaction and the effects of technical system failures with greater intensity and variation.
The FPT is successfully used to train, e.g.:
> the programming of the Flight Management Computer
> the right handling of the Auto Flight System
> automated flight manoeuvres, such as a GPS Approach or go-around procedures using the autopilot
> the correct processing of system failures using the ECAM procedure
The advantages of the new training concept using the FPT:
> the possibility to focus fully on the cockpit panel without being distracted by flight-relevant processes
> excellent possibilities to demonstrate how power and hydraulic supplies function and the effects that result from failures
> perfectly complements the Full Flight Simulator and saves time
> proper thrust levers instead of touch screens, allowing the pilots to develop a feeling for which positions the thrust lever in the A320 can have and what the effects are for e.g. the Auto Flight System
This makes the Flat Panel Trainer the ideal device for teaching and learning technical content.
