From theory to practice.

Global expertise: Airlines from all over the world rely on the training expertise and experience of Lufthansa Flight Training.

In 2007, Air Algérie extended its network by adding Algiers-Montreal to the flight plan. As a result, pilots and TRI/TREs required an ETOPS (Extended Range Twin-Engine Operations Performance Standards) licence. This involved three components: theoretical training, FFS training, and in-air route instruction from qualified personnel.
The multi-part theoretical training was conducted at the Air Algérie base by Lufthansa Flight Training. The FFS training and route instruction were handled by our instructors. Lufthansa Flight Training pilots were also deployed as Pilot In Command (PIC) on the Algiers-Montreal route.

Good news from airberlin and Lufthansa Flight Training: The airline shall continue to be an exclusive partner of Lufthansa Flight Training in the future.

The success story already began in 1997 and the partnership shall be expanded in the future. Airberlin extended the partnership agreement in 2010 for another five years, which means that its cockpit crews will be training exclusively on Lufthansa Flight Training flight simulators until the end of 2015.

Ralf Nagel, Corporate Director Flight Operations at airberlin, underlined the excellent cooperation by saying: "Simulator training at Lufthansa Flight Training is an important component in the training of our pilots and ensures that the training of our cockpit crews meets the latest standards. In addition, the extension of the contract until 2015 provides us with planning security and cost control."
The training plan consists of training on the Airbus A320, Airbus A330 and Boeing 737 aircraft types and will occur mainly at the Lufthansa Flight Training facilities in Berlin. The Lufthansa Flight Training Center in Vienna has also been a regular destination for training on the Dash8-Q400 simulator since 2008.

"We are pleased to see our training partnership with airberlin grow as quickly as the airline itself and to have once again succeeded in realizing an offer that is tailored precisely to the needs of one of our very important customers," commented Frank Berweger, Vice President Marketing and Sales at Lufthansa Flight Training.

Germanwings has been training its A319 pilots at Lufthansa Flight Training since the founding of the airline in 2002.

Our partnership with the airline was initially limited to our Dry Lease offer with Germanwings training its cockpit crews using own instructors and syllabai on the Lufthansa Flight Training simulators, mainly in Berlin.

The continued strong growth of the airline also led it to turn to Lufthansa Flight Training for the Wet Lease offer. Lufthansa Flight Training has been involved in the training of Germanwings pilots with experienced instructors since 2010; and so far 102 pilots have successfully completed their type rating.
"We will also continue to build on Lufthansa Flight Training's Wet Lease expertise in 2011. Our planning currently envisages 40 more courses and the figure is likely to rise further," commented Steffen Scheich, Postholder Training at Germanwings.

"The partnership in cockpit training between Lufthansa Flight Training and Germanwings is defined by very close and exclusive cooperation. This can especially be seen in the areas of Dry and Wet Lease Training," stated Christian Korherr, Head of Airline Cockpit Training at Lufthansa Flight Training.
Furthermore, Germanwings is actively involved in the training of ab initio pilots and an important partner of the FlightCrew Academy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Flight Training.

Dry Lease, Wet Lease or ab initio training: Turkish Airlines has been relying on the broad range of training offered by Lufthansa Flight Training for almost two years now.

Lufthansa Flight Training provides Turkish Airlines with aircraft type overlapping training at its training centers in Frankfurt and Berlin, as well as on-site at the Turkish Airlines training center in Istanbul.

Regardless of whether training type rating instructors for the Boeing 737NG, Dry Lease training on the A310, commander upgrades for the Boeing 737 and A320, type rating training of ab initio pilots or training cruise relief pilots - the expertise of Lufthansa Flight Training is always in demand and always welcome.
"The continued strong growth at Turkish Airlines requires a reliable partner for training and instruction and the experience of the past two years has shown, that we could offer the right support to our customer," commented Christian Korherr, Head of Airline Cockpit Training at Lufthansa Flight Training.
Turkish Airlines has already confirmed training until the end of 2010.

TNT
In 2007, TNT added long-haul Boeing 747-400s to its fleet for use on routes between Europe and China. Since TNT FEs were not qualified trained for Boeing 747-400 instruction, type ratings and OPC/LPC Trainings were Wet Leased from Lufthansa Flight Training. All training activities were conducted by our instructors that were standardized to TNT procedures.
TNT now has its own qualified instructors. When demand exceeds capacity, training falls back to Lufthansa Flight Training, even at short notice. In 2008, TNT signed a Preferred Partnership Agreement for Boeing 747-400 Simulator Dry Lease and Wet Lease. In 2009, Lufthansa Flight Training and TNT co-created a new syllabus that includes usage of the Integrated Procedures Trainer (IPT). This enhances training efficiency still further.
